Total's Helpful Hints
Lawns are most healthy when mowed at 2-1/2 - 3 inches
leaving the clippings on the lawn. Any less than two inches can
result in less tolerance to heat and a higher incidence of insect,
disease, and weeds.
Lawn researchers have proven that clippings left on
lawns result in a healthier lawn that is generally less prone to
disease. Clippings also contain organic fertilizer nutrients that
are returned to the lawn if the clippings are not picked up.
If your grass has not been chemically treated with weed
killers (these chemicals could harm other plants) collect your grass
clippings and recycle them as a mulch in your garden or in planting
beds. Mulching reduces weed problems, modifies soil temperature,
and helps to retain moisture.
This spring and summer you may have unwanted little
creatures that can eat, dig and defecate in your flower gardens.
Try placing plastic windmills or garden ornaments that move in the wind;
the unexpected movement will startle the animal. You could
also try sprinkling cayenne or strong black pepper.
How to Prepare for Our
Service Call
By preparing for our technicians to service your yard we
can provide you with safe, economical service. Please have your
sprinklers marked before we arrive. Please have all pets in and
gates locked. You do not have to be home. We will
complete our service and hang a bill on your front door in a return
envelope.
The way to prepare for a service call depends upon the
type of service you are receiving. If you ever have any questions
about how to get your yard ready, or any safety factors, please do not
hesitate to call our office with your questions.
